New reinforcement
Örebro SK announced the signing of Jetmir Haliti on 20 August. The 29-year-old centre-back signed a contract running until the end of the season and is expected to contribute in the remaining eleven Superettan matches. Haliti has 48 Allsvenskan matches and 69 Superettan, played 23 Allsvenskan matches for Mjällby in 2022 and 21 for AIK in 2023 before moving to Jagiellonia Białystok and later Mladá Boleslav. He has also represented Kosovo at international level.
Örebro SK’s season situation
After 19 rounds, Örebro sits 15th with 16 points - three wins, seven draws and nine losses. The last win came on 12 May against IFK Värnamo, and since then the club has played twelve straight league matches without a victory, earning only four points. The defence has struggled in August: losses 1-3 to Värnamo and Norrby and a 3-3 draw against Brage, meaning nine goals conceded in three matches. A clear 4-1 win over Sollentuna in the Swedish Cup has not changed their league standing.
Haliti’s profile and expectations
Sport director Enes Ahmetovic notes that Haliti is not only an experienced Allsvenskan centre-back but also possesses speed, ball-skill and the ability to drive the ball forward. These traits can strengthen Örebro both defensively and in build-up play. The club wants to reduce goals conceded but also needs to play out of pressure and establish its own game - something Haliti can help with through his Allsvenskan experience.
Risks and challenges
Haliti is a free agent and has had a turbulent period. He played six matches for Mladá Boleslav in spring 2025 before injury problems halted his season, and his contract with the club was terminated in February 2026. He has trained with a team in southern Sweden but has limited match time. Örebro cannot afford a long acclimatisation period, so how quickly he recovers to full match fitness is crucial. The next match is home against Varbergs BoIS on 25 August, followed by an away game against Helsingborg on 1 September. It is unclear whether Haliti will start against Varberg, but he must quickly get into form to help the club in its fight to avoid relegation.
